Long Weekend!

For those of you outside of the U.S., this is the weekend that me and my fellow countrymen (and women) celebrate our forefather's revolution for independence from tyranny. We do so with relatively small, contained explosions, listening to jingoistic anthems to our "freedom", burning meat on a grill, and drinking too much beer.

In other words, it's . a . party.

We at ASZ wish everyone a happy and safe 4th of July weekend. Sometime over the next few days, take a moment to reflect on my first sentence - and make a vow to take a page from the founding fathers. It's time to regain control our country. I don't really know how that happens, but I'd sure be happy to see Geo. Washington, Tom Jefferson, and Ben Franklin quit spinning in their graves.

"An elective despotism was not the government we fought for, but one which should not only be founded on true free principles, but in which the powers of government should be so divided and balanced among general bodies of magistracy, as that no one could transcend their legal limits without being effectually checked and restrained by the others." --Thomas Jefferson: Notes on Virginia Q.XIII, 1782
