Republicans are on the side of HATE

That's no news to some of you here. It is especially the case with the marriage amendment. As much as the Republicans claim they wish to respect gay and lesbian citizens, they are far more willing to condemn the gay and lesbian desire to live long and happy lives with their partners than they are to condemn the haters in their midst.

Who are those haters? Here's a couple. Council of Conservative Citizens is a racist group that also has a sideline in stirring up hatred towards gays and lesbians. The essays on the subject on their website should make every Republican in this country cringe that these folks are registered Republicans as well. Is it fair to say that the Republican Party refuses to repudiate these folks? Well, former RNC Chair Haley Barbour, former Senate Majority leader Trent Lott, and that Clinton hunter Bob Barr have all SPOKEN AT THEIR EVENTS!

And then there's Fred Phelps' Group whose website name I cannot utter in public. This is the group that protests against the mourners for Matthew Sheppard every year and has a running count on the web of how many days Matthew Sheppard has been in Hell.

It is time the Republican Party got rid of the haters and sorry excuses for citizens that it harbours in its big tent. It's going to take quite the fumigator to clean that tent out, too.
