John McCain Sez...

The GOP noise machine has been cranked up over the past 24 hours - two talking points in particular have dominated. 1) John McCain is a rabid Bush backer, and 2) John Edwards is light on foreign policy experience.

Whoops. Roll the tape.

"There comes a time when our nation's leader can no longer rely on briefing books and talking points, when the experts and the advisers have all weighed in, when the sum total of one's life becomes the foundation from which he or she makes the decisions that determine the future of our democracy." - Senator John McCain, on George Bush, circa 1999.
Jesus, these guys really ought to get their stories straight before they go national with them.

Update, 11:25AM: More from the Republican memory hole.

My only problem with you, Governor, is that you've only had four and going into your fifth year of governorship in a constitutionally weak governorship. And frankly, I really believe that you need more experience before you become president of the United States. That's why I'm thinking of you as a vice presidential candidate. - Orin Hatch, Arizona Republican Presidential debate, 1999

Update, 1:25PM: Bush Raises Issue of Edwards' Experience to Be VP. Pot. Kettle. Black.
