I think Colin Powell found his 9/11 in the Asian disaster. For the past 3 or 4 days, he's been far and away the most visible member of the Bush administration's tsunami response. Listen, I don't hold this against him; I'm just glad someone finally got off their ass after it took Maximum Leader 3 days to poke his head out of his spider hole in Crawford to make a comment.
Still, Powell will forever be one of the most culpable members in the administration for his handling of the runup to the Iraq debacle. Most progressives will never forget.
That won't stop the Giuliani-style GOP image makeover currently underway as Colin heads for the exits...
You have to wonder - what would his successor Condi do in a similar situation? Perhaps someone should ask during her confirmation
