Heart of the Beholder

Just a quick note - a new banner is running on the top, linking to a movie that's currently in post production: Heart of the Beholder. HOTB is making its debut next week at the Freedom Cinema Festival in Park City, Utah. Darlene Lieblich, the producer of the film, was kind enough to drop me a note on the film, and it looks like a barnburner. For a low budget film, I was impressed with the quality of the cast, and the clips on the HOTB website are very engaging. So, we at ASZ are pimping HOTB with a complimentary banner this week.

The HOTB storyline is what captured my interest, and that's where you're taken if you click through on the banner. I vaguely remember this story being in the MSM when it broke - or maybe it was a similar story in another city...the point is, this was happening quite a bit at the advent of the home video revolution, and was one of the springboards for the current morality movement.

More to the point, we've discussed how the GOP co-opted the fundie xian movement (or vice versa) ad infinitum on ASZ. Viewed as a historical piece, the storyline of Heart of the Beholder is a golden example of how this co-opting took place at a local level, but was driven by a national movement.

Take a look. I'm sure Darlene would appreciate some positive feedback and comments, and if you're in the Park City area next week, grab a ticket to the screening.
