The Party of Porn

Ever wonder who is supporting your senator? Where they get their money? Who is donating to their campaign? What about the reeeeeaaaly "moral", god-fearin' senators, do you think they care who contributes to their campaigns? Apparently some of them don't really care who contributes. (Big surprise, huh?)

One of our favorite senators, Mr. Doggie Style, has received $12,000.00 from Adelphia. Now why is that a big deal, Adelphia is a telecommunications company after all.

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Comcast Cable has given millions in political donations since 1998. The national Republican Party committees are its biggest organizational recipient, with donations totaling $851,000. President Bush is its biggest individual recipient with $109,000 in donations.

Adelphia has given $166,000 to Republican committees, $17,000 to conservative Rep. John Peterson, R-Pa., and $12,000 to Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., one of the most conservative members of the Senate.

Hmmmm...still can't see what the fuss is about? How about this (from the LA Times):

Once-Conservative Adelphia Adds Hard-Core Porn to Cable
Adelphia Communications Corp. has quietly become the nation's only leading cable operator to offer the most explicit category of hard-core porn. Come Friday, triple-X-rated programming will be available on cable for the first time in a major media market: Southern California.

Now personally I don't care if you want to pay for and watch porn, it's not my cuppa tea so I won't and don't. But Senator Doggie Style has his thong in a twist about all things "immoral" and is pushing his worldview on everyone. Let's see if he's moral enough to return the porn money.
