More of that Chilling Effect
This is from Patriotboy, and even though he's got the image turned around (the full image is here, at Art Renewal Center, a web gallery I highly recommend), Patriotboy and Digby have unearthed an interesting story. The story is that the new film Merchant of Venice, starring Al Pacino, Joseph Fiennes and Jeremy Irons, uses a Veronese fresco in one of the scenes. As with much Mannerist and Late Rennaissance art, the fresco includes cupids and assorted putti in the background. Yeah, you got it, the distributor of the film is enquiring about an electronic edit of the film to get rid of those little boy penises.
Hey, let's all get into the act and put a thong or something on Michelangelo's David!
