Yesterday evening, in ranting about the ACLU release of FBI memos which indicated culpability in crimes against humanity at the highest levels of government, I asked (not so politely): what are you going to do about it?
Here's an idea. How about coming to Washington, DC on 1/20/05 for an intimate gathering with multitudes of like-minded people?
All Spin Zone will make it easy on at least one person. Tell the ASZ community, via the comments link below, why you want to be there, and what we can collectively accomplish in being there. The person submitting the most reasonably impassioned pitch via comments to the entries thread will receive a round trip airline ticket to Washington, DC from anywhere in the Continental U.S. courtesy of ASZ. There are no strings attached (other than the winning essay will be blogged on the front page as "guest commentary").
On December 31st, the principal ASZ contributors will caucus via email, and our consensus on the best entry will get the ticket. We'll announce our decision on January 1, 2005.
The person who gets the ticket is responsible for everything else - lodging, meals, ground transportation, yada yada yada. We're just making it easy (and excuse-free) for one person to travel to Washington. TO BE CRYSTAL CLEAR: the best entry gets an airline ticket, and absolutely nothing else. ASZ is not responsible for anything but getting an airline ticket to the author of the best entry. Entries are to be posted in the comments link to the entries thread - emailed entries will not be accepted.
Have at it - oh, and a link to this thread will remain at the top of the page for the next week to make it easy for everyone to review the entries.
