The Company He Keeps

I heard on the radio today that Reagan has honorary pallbearers, among them Merv Griffin. Odd choice, Griffin, that creator of Jeopardy doesn't have the gravitas by my view. I thought I'd look these folks up.

Honorary pallbearers will be Frederick J. Ryan Jr., chairman of the board of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation; Merv Griffin; Michael K. Deaver, a former deputy chief of staff; Charles Z. Wick, a movie-industry investor; and John Hutton, a physician who cared for Reagan while he was in the White House.
Ryan makes sense being a former Chief of Staff. And Deaver, certainly, for the same reason. His physician is not surprising, either. Charles Wick is the good one -- he's the producer of Snow White and the Three Stooges. No, you can't make this stuff up.

There's your comic relief for today.
