James Hart for Congress -- A Progressive Republican!

It is hard to admit this, that the Republicans actually have a Progressive they can trot out there, and especially hard to fathom that they would do so in the backwaters of the 8th District in Tennessee, but James Hart appears to be a true Republican Preogressive. Heck, he even believes in Darwin, for God's sake!

The subtitle of Darwin's 'Origin of Species' is 'On the origin of species by means of natural selection or the preservation of favored races in the struggle for life.' The human race has evolved to its present state of intelligence and power because of the 'preservation of favored races in the struggle for life.' Race is the central mechanism of evolution that has created all living things. 'The preservation of favored races' is a simple process to understand, but its effects over time are awesome.
What on EARTH could he mean by that phrase "favored races" bit, though? Is he just saying that the human race is favored? Well, whatever he means, surely just the belief in Darwin, even though he doesn't quite get it, is a great leap forward for a Republican!

And, look, he's almost a socialist in this part of his platform!

In the lexicon of the third way, the workers are those who maintain the society. The proletariat is composed of less 'favored races' and less favored socio biological classes. These worthless bums from the slum could not tie their own shoes let alone run the government. The old lysenkoist myth that the races and classes are equal caused the collapse of the worker's government in Russia and will soon have the same effect in Zimbabwe and South Africa.
Best Beavis and Butthead here: "He said "proletariat." Heh, heh, heh. Stop it, I'm KILLING me!

Look, this Progressive Republican is taking on Pat Buchanan! And his response to someone criticizing him for it is lucid as a Republican Progressive can be.

You question why I would criticize Buchanan, since he says he will support 'our side'. If he is wrong, would his errors not be a danger to us even if he says he is on 'our side'? Suppose 400 years ago the Pope who threatened and opposed Galileo had said, as he did, (the view of Galileo that the earth is not the center of the universe is "false and absurd, formally heretical and contrary to scripture") and then added the statement, I, the Pope, am opposed to Jews, Moslems & Scientologists and favor white Christians? Should we then support the Pope because he claims to be on 'our side'?
He is so smart I can't understand him. Perhaps I'll ask Patriotboy to explain to me about this new side to the Republican Party, an actual Progressive side.

He's running unopposed in the Republican Primary there in the 8th District, and I've heard that the Republicans did not care for a progressive stance, but I'm SHOCKED to find that they have repudiated him, probably because of his belief in Darwin.

John Tanner, the Democrat in the race who has served several terms, better watch out!
