Click over to American Coming Together's blog, and drop them a love note. In most states, the time for voter registration is about to expire. The entire ACT organization has been focused for the past 18 months on registering voters in swing states - and it's paid off in spades for the Democratic Party.
According to this article in Monday's New York Times, voter registrations have hit record highs practically everywhere. While ACT isn't soley responsible for this surge, they've certainly been leading the charge.
Now the challenge becomes voter awareness, and getting all these new voters to the polls on November 2. You can help - even if it's only for an hour between now and election day. Contact an ACT office in your region. Or call your local Kerry / Edwards campaign office, and ask what you can do to help. How about stopping into the offices of your local political party - I guarentee they're doing the phone banking and literature distribution thing - and I've said before that John Kerry's coattails need to extend well into the House and Senate.
I don't think I'm overstating the situation when I say that the next thirty days might very well comprise the most important month of any of our lives (and those of our kid's future). Not a day will go by without political mud and blood being flung by both political parties. You and I have to be down in the mosh pit of politics for the next month getting our hands dirty. And then it's over, one way or the other.
At the end of every day between now and November 2, no one should have any regrets - we should all be able to say that we did everything possible to expose the corrupt Bush regime for what it was, is, and will be if given a second term.
