US troops wound CBS journalist in Iraq:

WASHINGTON (AFP) - US forces shot and wounded a television cameraman working for the American CBS network in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, after mistaking him for an armed insurgent.

..."During the engagement an individual that appeared to have a weapon who was standing near the insurgent was shot and injured," the statement from the Multinational Brigade-Northwest said.

"This individual turned out to be a reporter who was pointing a video camera," it added.

And we wonder why it's impossible to get any "hard news" out of Iraq...
